Sidney, Nebraska

Sidney was considered the territorial capital of the Nebraska area, but it wasn't officially laid out until the Union Pacific put track down in 1867, 6 years after the end of the Pony Express. For the Sesquicentennial, the residents of Sidney, Nebraska, gathered at Cabela's headquarters and dedicated a beautiful array of flags and granite art work, celebrating all 8 states of the Pony Express Trail. They also showed a miniature of the statue they're fundraising for to unveil at next year's anniversary in 2011.
