Kennekuk, located about 20 miles south of Hiawatha, Kansas, was bustling in the late 1850's - early 1860's. The post office there brought many interested parties, and made a smart way station for a Pony Express Rider to throw his Mochila onto a fresh horse.
For the Sesquicentennial reride, we followed the National Pony Express Association riders to a mochila switch by the old cemetary with headstones going back to the mid-1800's. We were lucky enough to receive a reviving cup of fresh homemade lemonade to carry us through.
