Gothenburg is named after it's sister city in Sweden, and boasts many inhabitants of that lineage. The town became a restful place to stop in the mid-1800's for people braving the numerous trails west. There are two original Pony Express Stations in Gothenburg.
In front of the Ehmen Park way-station museum is a sizeable time-capsule set in rock- it was last opened in the 1980's and was again opened in 2010 to add more artifacts. Maybe generations to come will find a letter carried by The Pony Express?
